Top three pictures are of a Ll bean A2 I picked up last week. Last two are of a blue label Cooper G1 I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I think I did okay have less than a full tank of gas in each jacket. Nothing like looking at pictures of yourself to realize you need to lose weight.

I’ve been tempted by a couple LL Bean 80’s era halfbelts a couple times on eBay. Long halfbelts, Sherpa lined, mouton collars. Just never pulled the trigger. How would you describe the leather in yours?

I have an LL Bean flying tigers, one of the older ones with the ‘made in USA’ tag. The goatskin’s not up to the standard of the top-end makers but it’s still good, I’d give it 7/10. Overall the jacket’s great, LL Bean made some nice gear.

I have a Saddlery/Cooper A2 I purchased in the late 80s early 90s. Thee LL Bean in my opinion is a better jacket. The goat on the Cooper is softer but doesn’t seem as rugged. The Cooper G1 in the pictures is about the same age as the Cooper A2 I’ve got. The G1 is a much nicer jacket.
The leather on the older Ll bean jackets seems better than that used on the ones made in Turkey. I’ve got one of them also, nice jacket just not as nice as the earlier versions.
