Two custom tailored suits, blue pinstripe and glenn plaid

These are two suits I couldn't resist picking up. They are rather traditional except for the single buttoning. As we have seen from some vintage catalogs, this was a style made back in the day, but not very common. But the fabric and cut are both very traditional. They are beautiful suits and would look great on a slim guy who fits them.

The size is about 36. the measurements are 40 inch arm pit to arm pit. The sleeve is 17 inches arm pit to cuff and twenty five inches shoulder seem to cuff. The shoulders are 17 and a half seam to seam across the top and the back is 32 inches top of collar to bottom. The sleeves have about an inch and a half to let down.

Waist is 29 inches with about two and a half to let out. The inseam is 30 inches with two and a half to let down, but there is no cuff. So if you want a cuff you will probably be maxed out at 29 inches. The zipper is 9 inches and the rise at the crotch is about twelve, so they are not really high waisted, but kind of medium. They fit well. The cuff is 18 inches wide.

THe cut on the pants is very traditional with nice pleats and nice wide knee with a tapered cuff. The jacket is nipped at the waist a bit and has nice high arms. The jacket is fully lined as well. The pants have watch pocket and nice cotton lining with suspender buttons.

I don't know anything about the tailor, but I imagine they are a good hong kong tailor. The label says "tailored by the sun 506 Lockhart road Hong Kong." The label looks kind of eighties graphically.

I would guess they were done in the eighties.

If you like a nice traditional fit in a well tailored suit, you will love the fit. The fabric is great. The glenn plaid fabric is made in england and the blue fabric is unlabeled but as good quality. They both are nice heavier weight, but really soft to the hand. I have two vintage suits that are similar and the fabric feels the same more or less, and very similar weight. They are both very soft and smooth, but have a little stiffness to them to make them feel like a real suit. You can see the construction of the jacket on the inside and while I don't know much about facing and such, they seem to be constructed well without a bunch of bunched up glued stuff.

The glenn plaid has two pairs of pants with the suit, while the blue one only has one.

the condition is close to perfect. I can not find any problems and they seem almost unworn.

You will really be impressed with what was surely an expensive tailorede suit.

I am asking sixty a piece for each. Or I will sell both for a hundred. SHipping will be about tne bucks and if you buy both I will ship for the same price for both.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Okay, I must say that while I may in fact be a bit too slim for them (40in chest sounds like a rather big size 36) I'm rather interested in at least one suit. The question is, can I afford it? The answer lies with the girl that scoulds me about my money. However, if they're still available, I shall have an answer for you by the end of the week :) I gotta say, after my last vintage acquisition, I can't claim I'm lucky in obtaining a good suit, lol, so my interest may or may not mean much. But I'll try :)

I wear a 38 and they are a bit snug on me. I generally subtract about two inches across or four total. That seems to give a good fit and size.

If you are interested, I will make you a sweet deal. I just couldn't resist them and want to see them go to a good home. I will make you an even sweeter deal on the both which might help you talk the other into letting you do it, since you are getting two suits and an extra pair of pants for a small amount.

I'll talk to her about getting two... but part of the question of whether it's doable is that starting this week my paycheck is getting cut by more than half due to less hours worked.... so we'll really have to see. But thanks for the quick response to my interest :)

About what era are these, do you know? I'm trying to find out as much information as I can to convince myself this would be a good idea at this time, lol

I think they are probably eighties, but tailor made so very much like a 30s 40s suit except the button configuration. they have nice high armholes, and a solid thick feel that onlycomes from thicker fabric. And of a high quality as can be found in an average suit from the golden age.

I'm sorry to say that I unfortunately won't be able to purchase either of these fine suits :( Too many mandatory purchases need to be made, and too little cash in the bank to buy the things I actually want, at least for now. If they're still available a little ways down the road, I might be able to, but don't hold on to them just for me. If someone else shows any interest, let 'em have it :)

I would love to purchase these for him, if they are still available. so that he may have them to wear when he comes home from war... we are building a wardrobe for him and this would be a great start!!! Thank you so much....

Hi, sorry, I didn't see your pot until just now. They are still available. You can have them for fifty bucks shipped for both, or thirty bucks for either suit.

If you don't want them and anyone else does, the price is the same.
