very cute, d-day doll. I love the color, it looks great on you. So many cute turbans on headcovers.com.

ohairas, thanks for the neat links. Who is the author of your sewing book? it looks like a really good resource.

thanks ohairas, just found it on amazon for under $2! But then I went and spent another $10 on other books and before you know it I'm in for $20. Eh well, I love a good book. Thanks!

I cant really do turbans too well, or most complete head wraps with front centered details. I end up looking too 'Mammy'/ house cleaner, no matter what the outfit.

Oh I'm so jealous! I love turbans! I bought the most gorgeous red velvet one on ebay ... It even has the original pin!

But I forgot that I'm not allowed to buy hats on ebay anymore because they don't work on my very big head. :(

I'd love to make my own, but I'm not sure it would look good. I have kind of a big forehead ...

We've seen your forehead toots, and there's nothing wrong with it! You're a doll! Anything would look good on you!
But you can always do a roll or something peeking out if your uncomfortable with all your hair back! ;)

Oooh, I was just thinking about turbans...

I was watching It's a Date the other day and Kay Francis wears them practically every other scene in that movie, so I was pondering whether or not a turban would work for me... I get away with the bandanna/headscarf wrap on my more casual vintage days, but to me a turban seems almost too fancy for any of my ensembles.

To what occasion would one wear a turban today? What were they acceptable to wear with back then? I'm afraid I would look as though I were about to clean the house! lol

Ladies if I might ressurect an old thread.

The turban pictured earlier in the thread doesn't seem to be sold by headcovers.com any more and I wondered if you could help me in making some choices in their scarf section. I'll be doing 'sensible' rather than swing impressions for my WWII group (women's land army and english home front) and I have long hair so will be containing it all in a scarf or turban.

I'm don't have my vintage fabric eye yet. I will get some of the plain ones but was thinking Chelsea Pink & Ivory and Grey Roses.

Thanks

Aoife

I can't seem to pull them off either. I just look like I came over to scrub your bath tub or something. Scarves on the head I can do, but only when I'm feeling confident enough.
