Yes, a little more pronounced side dents. BTW: I absolutely love the color on that hat, but then I really dig the whole thing! :eusa_clap

If everything goes to plan, I'll order my own hat from Art next year. :D

...Nothing wrong with the new bash (although bigger dents aren't necessarily my own taste) but the original seems to fit your head more elegantly, at least in these particular pictures. ...

My sense is that a simple center dent is indeed more elegant and more formal than any other crease. Maybe that's why I shy away from it since my dress is generally more casual.

I have to say I preferred the first one, too - in fact, I had a pic of this very hat saved, in its first incarnation (it is the one you have re-posted) as a reference for a future order... :)
Not that I do not like diamonds, I have several creased in that style myself, but that deep center dent with sallow pinch is so handsome with that height and brim...
BTW I have one from Art in that whiskey colour, and it is great!

The head shot I posted earlier was from the day I got the hat. Interestingly, I had tightened the pinch while it was still a center dent. But I don't have a shot of me wearing it with the tighter pinch.

I genuinely appreciate everyone's complements and opinions. I just think it's so cool how you can tweak and transform the same hat with even slight modifications. (Or big ones!)

It looks better on you with the diamond Karl so I heartily approve. Your face is round enough to even make it lower & tighter if you wanted. Although I love the '30s look, not that many guys carry it off well. MD can, Forgotten Man can, but it takes actually attitude as well as proportion.

I don't ever want someone wearing one of my hats to be uncomfortable with the style because then it won't be worn. I make hats, ,,, not display pieces:D

Art, I have always been impressed by your eye for proportion. You have a real 6th sense for it!

I know you aren't the type to feel like he is "loaning" his product to his customers, but it still makes me smile when you say "bash away!"

I agree, having a rounder face myself. I originally was going to bash my Jazzman with a center crease, but decided that a 5" crown was about as tall as I could use. Besides, I like the deep creased look.

Karl,

Fantastic hat. Both bashes look good, but I also think that the diamond is the winner.

What is the name of the ribbon color? It's a great complement to the whiskey.

The ribbon is called "the one Art picked out" ;)

lol lol lol EXACTLY !!!!!

Beacon, since I use almost 100% vintage ribbon not every one is named( in fact most are not), just a color number. I pick ribbons much like I would a necktie. I just keep putting ribbons on the hat until the right one jumps out at me. I don't know how or why it works, I just know it does.
Without the hat, even I don't know which one it is.
