Trousers with unusual lining

I saw these trousers on 'Savvy Row'. They apparently date back to the 1910s or 1920s. I was rather surprised to see polka dot lining. Any ideas whether it was common to have patterned lining?

I've seen lots with striped lining. All but one of my vintage trousers have plain, solid lining, but this is the first time I've seen polka-dots.

Apparently I can't edit. I meant to say, only one pair of my vintage trousers has solid lining. The rest are striped.

Maybe a way of using up additional material left over from shirts or whatever?

I don't know why but I have some 1900-1910 trousers with a patterned lining too. I thought they were from a theatre and the lining was added later. Maybe I can make pictures next week. I am not at home now.
