Attended the festivities this evening at the Sam Goldwyn Theater in Bev Hills. Quite enjoyable. Showed clips of many of his movies. Actors told stories about him (Eva Marie Saint was hilarious). Good times. Great director.

They are showing a # of refurbished copies of Otto's flicks over the next few days at the Academy's other theater on Vine. If I'm lucky, I'll get a chance to see some.

Now I'm in the mood to watch everything he's done.

Best Otto Preminger story:

At the early 1960s premiere of Preminger's "Exodus", as the epic film rolled on into its third hour, comedian Mort Sahl jumped up and shouted, "Otto - Let my people go!"

He was a fine director, but I can't look at his name without recalling an old Mad magazine satire that called him "Otto Premature"!

One of my wife's favourite movies is Bonjour Tristesse. Which makes her either very cool or very crazy.

I liked "Exodus" as well as his acting in "Stalag 17".

Otto Preminger was an excellent actor as well as director, In Harms Way, Exodus and of course Stalag 17! but how many times could he play a bald Nazi? I would have enjoyed seeing him act and branch out more in roles but I guess directing was more to his heart or liking, I too have Fallen Angel but haven’t had the chance to view, no plot give a ways please lol
