This is a commercial I've seen a couple of times and really like, and I thought it might be of interest to the Lounge. There are a couple of different retro looking commercials they're running.

This is one that involves a plane. It still has a retro vibe to it, but not as much as the one with the train, IMO. What I like about the train commerical is the train itself (pretty cool), as well as "The City" at the end, which very much as a Jeeves and Wooster feel about it (when they're showing New York night life and it's the fake set, lights, etc.).

All this is being used to show what it means to have of comfort and style.

Yes, there's a lot to be admired in what they included in the one with the train, which is why it's my favorite. There are so many cool little details.

Toyota Avalon Commercial

Anyone seen that new toyota avalon commercial? The one with the boeing Stratoliner and the 50's dressed stewardess?

If so, anyone have an idea if that's a take off on some famous jet age commercial or something along those lines? I figure if anyone would know, the crowd here would.

Now if you could be assured the car would stop when you apply the brakes! ;)

Personally, I think their problem is out of control. I mean, there's no stopping it now! And it'll keep going and going. :D Grumble grumble... buy American... grumble...

Cheers,

Neat commercial. If I chose a car based strictly on the advertising, I think that train ad would make me want an Avalon!
While I don't drive an Avalon, I do own a Toyota, so this song (Mr. Sandman) goes through my head whenever I drive off to "The City." lol

As an Ad-man I can only say this: YAAAAWWWWNNNNN - what a lot of bull...

Ah, but it has people noticing it, talking about it, and pointing others to it. There's a good chance that I (among others) might not have seen it otherwise. It puts the brand and the commodity on display and talked about. Isn't that what advertising is supposed to do? [huh]

Tom

Thanks for posting the ads. I don't have TV reception, so I wouldn't have seen these otherwise.

Makes me want to give my Toyota a wash and vacuum.
