Here's an old motor court...or tourist cabins, maybe... outside of the town of Floral City, Florida, on US 41; I'm doing some online research to try to find out a history of the buildings, but have found nothing to-date.

I have stopped to take photos of this place before years ago, but have misplaced them somewhere, so the wife and I were on a weekend sojourn and I decided to stop and take a few more so that I could share them here.

The look like they would have been nifty little cabins, but alas, time and neglect has taken it's toll on the structures; one of them has been restored, and I'm hoping that the rest of them might be saved one day, also.

Here's an old house that is also on the property, so I assume it was the owner's home, and they ran the court during it's heyday. It, too, has been restored.

There's evidence that there were a few other buildings on-site at some point, but alas, all that remains are concrete foundations and the remains of narrow, interconnecting walkways going nowhere, and a ghostly driveway.

Not exactly disappointed with this book, but not thrilled by it, either. I’ve seen more compelling photos in this thread. Some of the history in the early pages is worth the time it takes to read it, but the writing is no great shakes.
But wotthehell, I got it cheap. If you wish a copy of your own, I’d recommend shopping the sales.

The upscalers missed the water tower.

I suspect that the gas station came first -- that's a slightly modified Texaco Denver-style building from the late twenties/early thirties -- and they built the rest of the place to harmonize with it. Pity they didn't go full Teague on the upgrade -- that complex would look slick with white porcelain siding and green speed stripes.

I have that book, and feel pretty much the same way. It was a used copy, and only a couple of bucks, so that went a looooong way toward the positive.

My missus and I love going to vintage events at heritage railways. One place we always enjoy staying at is Coalport Station. No longer connected to the rail network but not too far from The Severn Valley Railway, of which, it was once a part of, it's railway carriage accommodation is unique. Just what this old steam buff loves. https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=e...hUKEwjtlID3-OziAhVSVBUIHcTUD6sQoiowDnoECA8QBg
