I'm a Torontonian, new to the board, and fortunate enough to live just two blocks from "The Hatter". Good to see I'm not the only one here from here :p

Formerly of Port Credit

Which is now part of Mississauga. Did high school there, then came west.

Was just in T.O. visiting family and friends.

Howdy alexandra!

Cheers.

Disappointed

Having been back and forth between T.O. and western Canada over the last thirty years, I have to admit that it has been disappointing to see all of the little towns get swallowed up by the G.T.A. - Greater Toronto Area.

Space is at such a premium my brother actually has to pay for a permit to park in front of his own house!!

Don't know about you, but that is completely beyond my imagination.

I don't have a car and since I have no kids and have no problem with public transit, I take the TTC and it suits my life nicely.

Unfortunately.

Hi Alexandra.

My friends have settled in many different areas of the G.T.A. and without a car, it would be impossible to get any visiting done. Especially with limited time.

If you are in and around the city, the TTC is quite convenient.

Besides, with the sparkle in those eyes, I would expect that any gentleman wishing to escort you on an evening out on the town would happily provide the appropriate transportation.

Cheers.

I'm from Oshawa, I find the TTC a miraculous convenience in comparison to my hometown's inadequate - practically non-existant - transit system. I can get anywhere in the city, and unlike Oshawa's system, it doesn't take take me longer on the bus than it would to walk. Outside of the city, I don't think you could get by (very happily) without a car.

Pretty much everyone I know is carless as well, so as of right now no amount of sparkling eyeball can usually get me a ride. It would be nice though.

And in regards to Oshawa: In my hometown, Oshawa was where we went to for civilization in comparison to our crappy village! It was a nice outing for us.

Oshawa isn't very fun for driving a car either - can't believe there's even more one way streets to lead you the wrong way in Oshawa than here in Toronto!

In my experience, Oshawa isn't very fun for much of anything! Except the thrifting. I have always found suburban thrift stores unexpectedly superior to city thrift stores. Way more reasonable pricing and significantly more interesting finds!

Alexandra - now there is a terrifying thought!
