Russell Patterson captured the style and zip of the heady 20s and 30s for magazines like Ballyhoo, Life and College Humor. He had a fantastically elegant style and line and this new collection of his work - the first ever collection of his work! - is well worth picking up. He was a big influence on me when I was in art college almost 20 years ago, and I wish this book had been available then, it would have saved me a lot of combing through dusty old magazines... no, wait a minute, I LIKE combing through dusty old magazines.
