Here's the full collection. One Popular, five Standard (all with pretty different labels denoting various fabric treatments, and sadly one very faded), three Sports, one Boys - Long - plus the measurement, one Green (this was the first vintage tie I ever bought when I was about 15!), one Red, six Black, and one Silver and three Gold. Included is my Grandad's cravat that he gave me with 'J Oxford Crease Resistant' and an unbranded 'Tebilized' tie I got this morning with my Red quality - just for your interest.
Fantastic. Thanks for posting. I haven't seen that types of boys label before. Very interesting.
I like the black with white polka dots. But the cream of the crop is the one with the brown circles. It is wonderful. It's just joined my list of ties that I really want (along with a beautiful one that Esteban posted here a while back)
Thanks Two Types! Yes the polka dot and the brown one are in surprisingly crisp condition considering that they have white on them. That's usually the first thing to seriously discolour.
Ah the old 3D blue Tootal TT....It's still a favourite and gets more necktime than many others but not too much as I'd hate to wear it out by washing and ironing!
Here is a Tootal shirt I received today - from the later years but still a very charming shirt. New in packet and all for about £4! Has that 60s/70s collar but with a collar clip it gives that Golden Era effect. Any idea on specific dates? I would guess mid-70s.
Came with a little cufflink - only one though oddly enough.
The label:
And then matched with a nice Linosair wool tie and collar clip:
There we go! Sorry it's not a Tootal tie but i just thought it might be of interest.
Thanks,
Eddie
Shirt looks well with that tie, put it together with a nice tweed suit and you have a decent look going on, I quite often buy shirts from that era as they have better collars and generally are better made than today's shirts.
Thanks Estaban. I agree - I much prefer the height you get on the neck with them too. I prefer to have a bigger collar in general to thicken-out my scrawny neck. It's got quite a nice detail on the cuffs too - they have like an overlap onto the sleeve to give them the impression of a double-cuff, while in fact only being a single cuff with an optional button. AND I have absolutely no problem with a bit of polyester in a shirt (better for ironing )
