I really enjoyed my hat from Tony his style is so old school and the hat was beautiful. I unfortunately didn't keep it, not because of the workmanship, but the thing was so fancy I always felt under-dressed! LOL

Thanks. You know it gets that way at times with many articles of clothing, hats, shoes, etc. You don't want to wear because then they are not "new" or you think something will happen bad to the itme. But now hats, they need to be worn. There are times when we may just toss on a hat and go no place to have been wearing a hat to begin with.

You are so right, if a hat isn't being worn I always put it up for sale or trade because I have no desire to sit and look at a hat on my hat hooks gathering dust. There is always somebody out there that can make better use of it.

Just got off the phone with Tony, placed an order. Aside from ordering a hat, the man was an absolute pleasure to speak with. I cannot help but to know I will be more than pleased with his creation for me. Thank you Tony.

In good cheer and wanting to help keep the flame lighted and the torch for wonderful hats made by Tony, I have to comment that what a wonderful thing of joy to open a box that contains something he has made so perfect. I am wanting to make another order but as much as I desire to have something totally different made, it is not an easy process to decide! I have seen a really super bright blue, (superman blue) beaver hat a few times, and would wonder if that color blue is something hand died or no? So I was thinking if it was something that could be made by the Master Tony.,...I would not hesitate gathering up my extra money for the deposit. But now, what to do if no hat body of that color can arrive to Tony for him to make such a magic delight? I need some help on what color to pick if not such a bright royal type of blue for a new hat for my Husband? AND no...nothing Polka Dot...no thank you...hahaha! Any input from all you fellow hat lovers please toss them this way....thanks!

While a hat of that color would be different and unique it would be hard to pair it with many articles of clothing, it's not as neutral as say light gray or tan. I would opt for a blue closer to navy if that color is not already had. Navy with matching ribbon and binding, very rich but understated. Another choice would be a green such as the Campdraft bluegrass or sage, it goes well with tans, browns and grays. Of course if you want to throw caution to the wind, there's mint on the light side or black cherry on the dark side both colors make for great looking hats. You will have to consider your husbands complexion of course. Good luck, I'm sure in the end you'll make the right choice, you've done pretty good so far.

Adding to JoeyC's caution, royal blue is a controversial color. I generally like it, but there are people that absolutely HATE that color, so it is something to consider. Navy is not so controversial, but it is difficult to wear - because in most light it will be perceived as black - definitely a daylight color. Same with the darker side of oxblood or black cherry - unless a person sees it in good light, it is black.

Thank you. I can tell one thing about my Husband, he can "pull off"wearing clothing in colors some just do not look right wearing. We have owned (seems to be close to) about 150 hats. Now most have been silverbelly or tan. Several have been black (mostly thin ribbons) and a dozen or so grey or brown. Right now his favorite hats are from Tony. Yep he loves vintage but these two from Tony are his all time picks. He is also very careful when wearing a hat. Never wears one any of the fedora hats in bad weather, keeps them dry, cool, clean. Clothing he has tons of. My Husband was the first Man I ever met that owned more than one tux and a dozen or more suits. We have no room now in any closet space including storage in the basement and all the spare bedrooms. The 20 foot long walk in closet in our master bedroom is almost non walkable....lol! Hats shoes suits.....hahahah! I am not sure about a darker color. I think that is why I am checking the bright blue color out. If a thin ribbon was made that color, with some super light grey or silver for the edge and main ribbon....???? I have also entertained the light lemon yellow ribbon color...

Hello there. I am aware you have many hats and of course own a thin ribbon or two.....hahah! Now the oxblood color, we have never had a hat that color yet. The black cherry up close is beautiful but as noted by some, looks black in general. Would you think the oxblood some what close to a maroon color hat? We have one maroon hat that is in really poor condition a $20.00 purchase off ebay. It had burns on the brim not shown in the auction pictures and some issues so it never gets worn, and the surface of the hat is weird! Long hair and under the long hair is sort of too stiff? The hat is beaver from Biltmore 1950's is a Hommie! I f that hat was in decent condition it would be worn but sadly the burn marks show up...maybe a good hat to wear for a firing squad? LOL! (Last smoke before they open fire).....hahahah LOL! Other colors we know nothing about, whiskey and Pecan. But I need to make some choices soon on this. I have two hats from Tony and both have basically been presents (Birthday) and now I want to have one for my Husband for our Wedding Anniversary. I was recently lucky to pick up two stick pins for hats, both gold and one is a ruby the other a sapphire stone and they look sharp. If I could afford it, I would be buying a new 911 Porsche....but the money tree is not dropping off enough for that so far! That makes a beautiful hat from Tony the very next best thing. Yes indeed! And Tony is a Saint!

Sounds a little like me. My wife tells me our entire house is a walk in closet , hats ,boots, shoes and clothing and those are only mine. I'm now down to 3 tuxedos. Tony is currently making me a hat in bone color, my next would be one in what appears to be mint shade of green on his website in his LaSalle style.

Whiskey & Pecan are nice colors. Here is a link to some pics of all the Winchester colors (and some colors more exclusive to Art Fawcett and his collaborators, which might include tonyb, dunno about dat)
http://www.vintagesilhouettes.com/Felt_Color_Collage.htm
This might be a pic of Art in a whiskey, from a fedorafest visit to Winchester somewhere in my past -

I really like the pecan, though, and if I didn't already have so many light browns, would have bought one of those already. I still have a visit to Buckaroo coming up this Summer (Mike Moore is the wide-brim in that pic) and I want so many colors but will probably settle on only one - will it be Pecan, Natural (beaver), or the newer Limestone? ooooohhhhhh groooaaaan - will I ever make a decision?

Thank you very much. The Whiskey is sure nice. I'll have to take a good look at the pecan color as well.

Yes the whiskey is within one color that I am going to seriously consider. I am not sure what colors Tony can have available but I sure can ask him and see what he can tell me....the only other color I could think of...would be another Ivory thin ribbon with a darker color contrasting ribbon work, hahaha!

I think it is super that both these star hat makers are together in a photo. These sort of pictures should be saved in a thread all on it's own, as life can be short and the here and now is special. Great picture!

Folks, I am commissioning a hat from Tony. I am looking to choose a lighter colored felt for this hat. Something along the lines of 'tan/fawn/sand.' The hat is to be a thin-ish ribboned Open Road remake with a Tonyb spin on it. I can't wait to see it on the block, but first I have to pick a color.
