I did a tour with the Hellenic Army advising an infantry battalion largely conscripted for two years service.
Greek Army draftees were paid thirty drachma a month, or $3 USD; punishment allocated additional time added
to mandated term. I knew a lot of Greek buck ass privates whom were still working off their two years three or more
years after induction. Greece also tossed in a bordello visit bonus two or three times a year.;)

Today's date in 1954, Elvis had his first commercial recording session at Sun Records in Memphis. He recorded That's Allright, originally recorded by Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup in 1946, I think it was.

On this day in history July 5th, 1976, Forrest Gump started running across the USA. Three years, two months, 14 days and 16 hours later, in the middle of Utah, he suddenly stopped.
He was kinda tired…. Never Forget. ❤️

While at Hines VA Hospital for a routine check up, I met another vet who had served with Elvis in Germany.
Their company was permanently assigned battalion lawn maintenance sector using old push grass cutters
circa 1930s and swing blades. Elvis purchased modern gas powered lawn mowers without Army approval,
which they used for the duration till DEROS.
