I have the same Tobacco Badalassi and although I own a few Aero FQHH CXL jackets, any future orders would be Badalassi. It's that good.

Be smart and never come back to this forum again. You've got a great looking jacket. Hanging around here is only going to cost you more money and you're unlikely to equal what you have now.

If you ignore my advice, and I suggest you do ignore it, have your black jacket made in Badalassi. The slim jacket you desire will be better in a more flexible hide.

Badalassi is just so good I agree. I have never handled CXL in jackets. Only on boots. It’s interesting though because steerhide CXL boots are normally very easy to wear and requires less break in comparing to horsehide boots. Some found CXL boots boring because there is no grain.

So maybe in terms of jacket the hide used by aero is too thick?

I will try to find a local retailer that stocks Aero and check out the FQHH in person then make my decision.

Congratulations really for your jacket: in my opinion it is perfect. Back length and sleeves, but also everything else are the right size.
I own the Premier Half Belt jacket in black cxlfqhh size 40". I am 172 cm height and about 70 kg. weight.
The dimensions of the jacket are: length 24.5", shoulders 17.5", pit to pit 21", sleeves 25.5", front drop 1.5.
The size of the jacket is right for my measurements, maybe I feel a bit of discomfort in my armpits.
If I could go back I would take it with a 24" back lenght, because it's a bit long if I wear chino pants. It is perfect with medium-waisted jeans, such as nudie jeans "grim tim".
If I could give you some advice, I would tell you to choose the jerky horsehide leather. I have the A2 Bronco model in jerky, and it does not require any break in process. The Premier Half Belt, after 4 years is still very hard to wear.
I hope I have been useful.

This is a beautiful jacket! ^^^
I also found the CXL to be uncomfortable in the slim fitting Premier jacket. I live in Southern California and found I didn’t wear it very often- nice to look at on the hanger.

Great Hooch!!! Fit looks spot on. Hard to get better than that.
I see the measurements of the jacket you posted…for reference what are your measurements? Height, weight, chest size, etc… would be usefully to know for
Comparison to the jacket measurements.
Again- gorgeous jacket. I am thinking of putting together something in the black Badalassi.

Thanks very much for sharing! The jacket looks excellent on you. I have indeed read your review on the premier when trying to figure out my sizing because we are the same height but I’m a little heavier than you. Holly at aero quoted me a 40 would be around 21.5 p2p though, would you say they made the jacket smaller than you expected? Makes me a little worried the premier might be a little too snug. Probably shouldn’t get it with CXL as It might be too tight.

I have a short torso and wear my jeans pretty high. My Hooch Hooler has a 23 back with no front drop and from the back it stops just above the back pocket. With the 1.5 front drop I think I will go 22.5.

Order changed to black badalassi :). I’m afraid CXL would make the jacket too tight given the premier is quite a slim jacket with high armholes.

Thanks very much for the kind words! I’m 172cm 75kg. 40 in chest 31-32 waist athletic build. I have a short torso though so the length will be short even for people with the same height.

The black badalassi really is amazing. Very easy to wear with loads of grain and shine.

Comparison between the cognac and tobacco badalassi. The tobacco has little less intense grain to the cognac.

The cognac has a lot less shine to begin with as it is not the shiny version (Just Nappa and not Nappa Lux Aero uses). With wear the oil of the leather comes out and becomes shinier. While the shine dulls a bit with wear on the tobacco I think the 2 will become very similar in terms of shine.

For reference I'm about 38" chest. Jacket has been made with right measurements, but main problem is very high armpit for Premier pattern, and a generous waist. I don't know if the Premier jacket will be comfortable for you in size 40", as your chest is 40"! If I wear a sweater above a shirt jacket isn't very comfortable and my chest is 38"! Consider also '30 Half Belt slim fit, with lower armpits.

Oh I thought you would have a similar chest size to me as we are about the same weight.
In this case size 40 might be too small for me.

The thing is Holly told me a regular 1930 size 40 would be around 22-22.5 p2p which I thought might be a tiny bit too big for me.
And a size 38 would be 21 p2p which be too small.

I would send the fit pics to her and see what she thinks.
