I didn't see anyone else posting this thread, and I must say I am very impressed by this CGI film's visuals! It's stunning!

Plus they decided to make a comic book film (Tintin is a very famous comic in Europe) set in the era that it was written (the Golden Era, good news for us, eh?)

This and Captain America are the only 2 films this year that can force me into a theater. I'm a HUGE Tintin fan from way back. Can't wait.

Couldn't agree with you more there Locktown,
I was just reading that this animation is the product of motion capture! Which I usually loathe because I find hand rendered animation much more vibrant but this just looks so fluid and natural, not like some of the previous mo-cap films.

I had a couple Tintin books in the original French when I was a kid, and loved them. Really excited about this.

I would probably have gone to see this, but I'm much more enthusiastic having seen this trailer. When Spielberg was announced at the helm I was disappointed, but if this trailer is anything to go by it seems like this could be one of the rare occasions where he doesn't destroy something with his trademark schmaltz. I'm impressed they have TinTin wielding a gun (true to the books; I'd feared Spielberg might switch it for a walky talky). Nice too that he has an English accent: I'd suspected too that they might Americanise the whole thing for the sake of it.

I had heard that Simon Pegg was to be in it, and he is (and glad to see Nick Frost in there as well, AND Daniel Craig). I assumed it was going to be live action. Sort of disappointed it's motion-capture animation.

Well the mo-cap isn't a deterrent like I thought, it makes the characters really seem like they're comic book selves.

I wish they'd do something like this for a Golden Era Superman film, now that would be something!

Edward, I too was happy with the pistol wielding Tintin, he always was a tough kid in the books.

That's Mr. Sacarin (or however you spell it). He's one of the villians in the original story.

I am absolutely stoked about this movie. I grew up with Tintin in the 90s, watching the very popular cartoon series and reading the original comic-books. I can't believe it's all finally happening (with another two possible movies coming out after this one).

As befits the early Tintin books, the movie looks like it has a nice 1930s feel to it.

i grew up with "Snowy" !! loved the origonal cartoon seried, used to be on at the Saturday morning picture show, at the Odeon in Dudley , where we went every sat,(up till last one about 1976!)

Not to Germans! For some reason Snowy is called Struppi in Germany, which has nothing to do with snow. Or being white. Odd. But Germans do tend to make odd amendments to all things cinematic. German titles of English speaking movies can be very strange indeed.

I just had a quick look on Google Translate and it translates 'Stuppi' to 'Tintin'!! :eusa_doh:
