Cuffs: Not sure if I would be so quick to call this a qualm, but the lack of stitching around the cuffs makes the leather a bit more balloon-y than I feel it needs to be. The leather is so (wonderfully) thick that the rolling of the cuff back on itself as it attaches to the sleeve liner causes it to press into my wrists a little. My point is, if it were stitched around the cuff, the leather would probably lay more flat. I'm guessing the leather will naturally crease more and more around the cuff opening with use to become unnoticeable. Compared to yet another unnamed Japanese brand J-100 jacket (which I don't own but did try on in the store), the single layer of cowhide in the gusset folds away nicely where I cannot feel it against my arm when zipped shut.

As the others have said, the cuffs will train and flatten with wear. That gusset will get softer and make it easier to zip the sleeve down as well... Wear the heck out of it and it will reward you!! Glad you're so happy with your Chopper--it is one of Vanson's best!

Mine looked like that too when it was new. You're right, once it breaks in, it will crease and lay flat and certainly become more comfortable as time goes on.

This is what mine looks like now:

We are still waiting for our building to be repaired here in Seattle, so we are offering in-person fittings by appointment for our local folks and out-of-town guests! We can meet customers at our local Phinney Neighborhood Association, which is housed in a beautifully restored 1904 school building. Call us at (206) 550-3545 or email us at info@thurston-bros.com to set up an appointment!

First photos of our new batch of Thedi Phenix jackets in our new Veg. Tanned Italian Buffalo...we have these jackets in Caffe and Espresso (shown below). However, the Caffe has already sold out in all sizes except Size Small. The fit is great on these jackets and they come with all of the cool details that we know our customers love!

We'll have a product page up soon, but for the interim, you can learn more about the Thedi Phenix here--

That buffalo hide looks so nice and the contrast stitching just pops! Is the hide as thick and supple as the Italian horsehide model? If I didn't have a custom Aero seven ordered already (part of the July allotment batch) I would have seriously considered another Thedi in the espresso!
Hopefully the Aero July allotment batch would come soon and dampen my urge to splurge!!

Hi Radz108,

Yes...the contrast stitching is quite nice...it really makes the veg. tanned leather POP! The Italian Buffalo is thicker than Thedi's Horsehide, and a bit stiffer too...people are definitely going to have to put a bit of time into breaking the Italian Buffalo in!
