Carrie can you please explain the colour diff between the brown chromexel steer vs horse? Do these differences change over time?

From what I know the horse is more stiff, takes longer to break and is more water resistant. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Damo,

The CXL Steerhide tends to be lighter in color than the CXL FQHH. However, there's always some variation and customers can request a lighter or darker hide in their orders. The color for both hides will lighten a little with wear.

The Chromexcel Steerhide is, on average, thicker and stiffer than the CXL FQHH. Therefore, the CXL Steerhide takes longer to break in (though the length of time for the break-in depends completely on the wearer!). Also, since they are tanned the exact same way, they offer the same level of water resistance!

Carrie,

Thx for the info.

does your info hold true if the hides are of the same thickness?

As the hides age is one more grainy than the other? Does one look newer than the other over time?

Also I read somewhere about a discount for FL members. True or false? Thx

Hi Damo,

The CXL steerhide will always be somewhat lighter in color, no matter the thickness. The steerhide is also typically grainier than the FQHH, but neither will look newer than the other over time...they both change quite a bit!

Sorry, we don't offer TFL discounts. If you have further questions, please call us at (206) 550-3545...

Thx for the information, it is very much appreciated. With the weak CDN dollar the cost of a j106 is $1550 without any customs or taxes so I was just looking for a bit of help. As much as I love the jacket its difficult for me to spend this much. Do you guys carry any used 106's?

Is that the 30's HWYMN?
I only ask because the front doesn't look like it's dipping, and the sleeves look a bit looser than I imagined.
Looks like a great fit though, I'm sure he's enjoying that one.
Thanks so much, Carrie.
