It stayed like that? Very surprising, have never had that happen to my jacket after wearing it in the rain.

Yeah, I took that photo the next day. I love this leather, but I want to be able to ride in it, and that doesn't inspire confidence.

Uh huh, I wonder what the jacket would look like after riding a few miles through rain in it. But water shouldn't harm it none, though. And it's a thick, tough leather.

20 odd years? Crikey, obviously we behave very differently at the pub, I would be arrested by the fedora lounge police for what my clothes go through on any Saturday night in rugby season, and secondly, how does your weight not change in 20 years? Your obviously some kind of Scottish vampire, you've definitely got some kind of Highlander thing going on....that's probably the original A2 issued to you before Normandy....;)

I must wandered away from this thread. The jacket's actually around 30 years old, still looks great, I got it two years ago. I am, however, pretty much the same weight I was 20 years ago. And, no, I don't go out during daylight hours...

I think it has to do with the dying process. As far as I know, a lot of the veg-tanned leather is semi-aniline which means it has a layer of coating on it. The coating offers some protection against elements and I suppose that any type of coating may rub off someday. The "durability" of the coating, I guess depends on many things but I think the thickness of that coating would be one thing that determines the length of protection.

We've sold A LOT of Vicenza jackets and haven't seen anything like this...Goodwear hasn't either...Aero hasn't seen this either. Could you email us the high res. image? Are you sure the leather is dry?

Carrie, I'll email you the photo tonight. I took the photo the day after; it was definitely dry. However, I'm looking at the sample now (many days later) and can still see spotting, though a little less of it. Obviously, the OP's photos are clear evidence that the Vicenza won't spot. I just thought it was odd and a little disconcerting that this sample did. Anyway, thanks for following up. Y'all are consistently top notch.
