I got this beauty off the sale rack in Portland. 1970s Columbia with insulation and a grey removable mouton collar. I negotiated the price with Benny and walked away satisfied. Some jackets are consigned and others are trade-ins and have more "flexible" price tags. Plus I got an impromptu tour of the whole operation. They have a stockpile of interesting leathers to draw from...if you should inquire.
That gray collar is just insanely cool! You wear this one very well too. I always appreciate seeing it in the jacket o' the day thread.View attachment 147467 View attachment 147478

Merry Christmas to you Colin!! You are going to love it. My best jacket by fay- sidewinder with removable mutton collar!!!Their site definitely does not do the product justice.
I have a new custom Langlitz landing any day now so I'll be sure to post a photo or two.

The problem Langlitz has with model photos is that to show the fit that they're capable of providing, they'd have to do bespoke jackets/pants for their models. They probably can't do that. They'd have to select their model, measure them, make the jacket, then bring the model back for the shoot. Instead it's pretty clear that they went with off-the-shelf stuff they had in inventory, and made do.
That's why, I think, for years they preferred to go with the illustrations of what their jackets looked like. The illustrator could capture better what they look like when fitted perfectly than the photographer.
I think the photos on the Langlitz Japan site are much better. Use mannequins and dress forms that can be adjusted to make the fit exact, get a good photographer with good equipment including lighting, and don't worry about hiring pretty models. That would be my advice.

Thx for the Times article!!!Just saw this article...thank goodness some things do not change. I need to make a trip out there and soon:

That said, I looked around a little there, I have an intrest in a Cresent, but the photos on the person look terrible. Fit is way off, it looks like a mall jacket, or worse. Really suprised that for this company they allowed such dismal photos to be put on thier website. Hope that does not put off too many customers.
Langlitz was faster than expected with my last jacket too.
Excited to see your Langlitz!!
Weird. I opened it on my desktop successfully- maybe a mobile limitation?? Can’t wait to see your Langlitz!!!I tried to read that article in the link a few posts above but can't. I have to pay and subscribe to see it.

Must be my work computer. I can read the article once I was at home.
It is a nice jacket but too small so unfortunately it has to go back. Fat guy in a little coat......
Too much taper in the body and things get tight. I don't have a gut or love handles and I had to suck my stomach in to zip it. It needs an inch more of length in sleeves also and maybe even the body. I think the zipper is crooked also. All my nitpicking aside, it is quite a lovely piece and I want the exact same thing just a tad larger.
The wait begins again.
