Thoughs on tile floor

This is my kitchen. It was last seriously remodeled in 1958, except for the countertops, sink , carpet and paintwork I did in 2000 to get the place rented fast. The stove is obviously 1980s. Now I am living here again and want to bring it back to a vintage look (as vintage as possible without breaking the bank). The floor is out of level, so large tiles are out of the question. I was thinking of maybe a small greyish herringbone tile to keep with the wall tile that I am not going to change. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

May also be good to mention that we are going to paint the cabinets and hang different pull handles. ( boomerangs )

I don't know how bad your floor is, but there are flowable epoxy products available to correct that problem. Might be worth looking in to to get a level surface.

Regular Armstrong Vinyl Composition Tile is inexpensive, available in a variety of colors and patterns, and may be cut into small sizes on a common miter saw. For a late 1950s kitchen 9" square tiles would be appropriate, as would be Forbo Marmoleum real Linoleum sheet flooring. A period range and period refrigerator, both of which items should be quite inexpensive, would complete the look. I recall a turquoise Frigidaire Custom Imperial Flair range which turned up on a local Craigslist for a pittance (<$200) a few months ago, along with a matching turquoise refrigerator.

Is it possible that the refrigerator was once installed where your range now sits? If so, that would leave room for a larger range with built-in work space, something like this Kenmore:

All of the above ranges were expensive when new, and are of excellent quality. They will cook and clean quite as well as the best modern units.

For the windows, 2" wide aluminum Venetian blinds WITH TAPE stringers would be a nice period touch.

Then make simple curtains using perhaps a reproduction printed cotton:

Now, for the counters, Wilsonart offers a line of period laminates at prices which are competitive with more commercial stuffs, about $120 for a 4x8 sheet. It is pretty easy to make a DIY laminate counter top, especially with patterns like these:
