Thoroughbred Hats?

Here is a Maple Grizzly Thoroughbred. The liner and sweat are from the retailer. The box shows it was sent from the factory to Wilson's. The feathers had to go, and a different crease done.

My latest 10X. The felt on this hat is quite substantial: it’s definitely a cool weather hat. The open crown is 6 1/2 inches so there were lots of options for the crease. The raw edge brim is 3 1/2 inches wide and considerably firmer than the crown, but still nowhere near as harsh and cardboard feeling as say a current Stetson 6X Beaver.

I'm resurrecting this to share my Thoroughbred 10x. I love this hat, but i'm always a little on the fence about wearing it. It's quality is amazing, and it was definitely the look i was trying for, but I don't know that it exactly suits me. I feel like I look amish or prospector-y

I bought it because it was a dead ringer [after some re-blocking and a thorough-bred (nailed it) cleaning] for the Red Dead Redemption 2 Stalker Hat. I included a few pics from the game to show what I was trying to hit.

That being said, I do think a different hat band will go a long way. I just haven't quite found the right one.

Perfect example of the man wearing the hat...not the hat wearing the man!
Wear that hat man!!

You are overthinking.

The hat looks good on you, so wear it and feel good about wearing it for what it is.

Stop worrying about what you wish it was.

Yust my opinion.

10X Quality Thoroughbred. This is some thick substantial felt. Great winter hat…if you live somewhere that has winter. The open crown is about 6 1/2” and the raw edge brim is 3 3/8 inches. The 3-cord western ribbon with a simple knot is a nice touch. Size is 7 5/8 or 61cm.

what a great colour.

You know, I was so happy to see what I saw as a date I didn’t think it could be a style number even though the box is clearly marked as such.
Happens to all of us......when I first looked at the post I read the 1983 as 1938 and was thinking, no way that hat is from 1938......then I looked again.....

I too have also been fooled by style numbers that need a second look (and sometimes third).;)
