Thom Browne style?

He's supposed to be doing a new line at Brooks Brothers.

His stuff is very short... in fact that's his trademark.

Why?

Used to be that being allowed to wear long trousers was a sign you were growing up. Perhaps this is a way to accomodate the trend of adults continuing to dress as children while still recognizing "classic style"

Ah the stupidity of fashion knows no bounds. I wonder how they are going to market this. Possibly as a "Vintage-hip-with a twist" campaign. :eusa_doh:

i saw a Thom Browne cardigan in london and would gladly own it if it wasn't £1500. i still think that behind the unusually tight and short fit of the suits is a quality designer. if he's doing a more conservative, commercial line he'll almost certainly be reigned in, therefore it could be good.

Any of our young Britishers getting ready to go to "public school"? lol

On our little TV shopping show, the on-air hosts are never seen below the waist, as they stand behind a desk. I've seen a lot of 'em wear suit jackets, white shirt and tie over a pair of shorts. lol

It's a common practice for newscasters as well. Except for weathermen, who usually stand.

It is a current fad in NYC to see ladies walking around in cut off suit pants. There looks like something is missing from the outfit. [huh]

I agree with Herringbonekid- that is in all honesty the worst/quirkiest of his stuff. His more conservative suits are nicely 50's-60's prep inspired, although perhaps more targeted for people slightly older than me rather than the majority of the older gents here. His look is very slim- narrow lapels, narrow silhouette, close-fitting pants with no break or a litle bit of sock showing.
From what I have heard about him from people who know him, his line is very much inspired by the same vintage styles that we love here. I may meet Thom Browne next year- perhaps I can interview him about how vintage clothing has inspired his style.
