Never understood how this could be an issue as Santa hasn't brought the presents until very late on Christmas Eve, so you have no choice but to open them on Christmas Day.

Tinsel or Garland?

I guess Tom & Jerry, if I have to pick.

Speaking of garland, Judy Garland's Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas or NKC's The Christmas Song?

Fruitcake (strangely enough, I'm probably one of the few people who likes it)

Damia or Piaf?

Piaf, her life and her music hauntingly entwine.

And I share your fruitcake love as does my girlfriend. We believe, if not a silent majority, we fruitcake lovers are a meaningful minority who have been silenced by the fruitcake haters' aggressive and vocal delivery of their message. It's time for us to start changing the narrative. The stack of fruitcakes in my local bakery also argues agains the nobody-likes-them meme - they didn't bake them for practice.

Stolen of Panettone?

Sorry..I’ll rephrase the question.

When at home do you prefer to eat ---

in the dining room or kitchen ?

Or a favorite part of the house ?

Living in NYC, we eat in our living room, on the sofa, plates on our laps. Now, this sounds crazy to 99+% of the country, but if you aren't rich and live in NYC, you have a tiny kitchen with no room for a table and you definitely don't have a dinning room. Most people put their dining table in the living room and use it when they have people over; otherwise, it becomes a desk / work table as, again, there isn't a lot of room so things serve multiple functions. So, you either clear it off each night, or settle into the sofa, use the coffee table or end table to put stuff on and eat on your lap. Both from articles and informal survey of our friends - this is how a lot of NYC eats its meals.

Growing up in a small town in NJ, we ate in the kitchen unless we had someone over and then we used our very small dinning room (you had to squeeze yourself between the table and the wall when moving around). That said, I liked the change when we did eat in the dining room - but it was normally for an occasion, so everything was a bit more fun.

To pick back up on a theme above:

Cinnamon flavored items or peppermint flavored items?
