Karloff. That luscious voice...
Munsey's or Colliers?
Colliers magazines.
Vincent Price or Boris Karloff ?
As far as “voices” are concern !
Karloff. That luscious voice...
Munsey's or Colliers?
First.
Electronic typewriter with soft keyboard or mechanical typewriter with classic keyboard?
Classic.
Oreo-style cookies with vanilla-cream between or lemon-cream?
I call foul and ask for a ruling from the referees. If you don't know the options, shouldn't you wait until someone who does answers? Seems to take the game away from the players and make it all about the next guy who wants to post his "this or that."...
Trenchy, I thought the idea was to
have somebody else answer your question? ...
Second.
Closed comb-DE razor or open-comb DE-razor?
I'm not a soccer fan, but at some point, doesn't a read card or something like that come out?
Open-comb
Creamy after shave balm or refreshing after shave splash?
Hmmm... that’s twice you’ve answered your own question!
We need a time-out and get the referee to see what rules are!
At the end, it was your question and I answered!
I'm confused. What is the current question?
To be unconfused, see post #3368 of this thread.
But don’t hesitate, he may answer his own question
and beat you to it!
Creamy after shave balm or refreshing after shave splash?
Shellac of course!
Condensite or Celluloid?
Well, perhaps I should have illustrated the question. This novice will take a seat and wait for someone that knows the topic
to reply.
Condensite or Celluloid?
Maybe now is a good time to review the guidelines of the game as I've only assumed them from watching the play and applying (what I think is) common sense.
Vitanola basically summarized the key steps: "It is my understanding that a player answers a question and then posts a "This or That" which is in some way related to the Era."
Some guidelines, I think (please feel free to correct)
- Don't answer if you don't know the two items in question (looking up to refresh a sincere memory seems reasonable to me, but if you don't know the items, wait for someone else to answer)
- Don't just say "second" because you want to move the game along if you don't know both items
- Also (IMHO) adding a line or two of color is what really spikes the game's interest - especially when it is Era related
- For example, when Lizzie answered the "Nancy Walker or Zasu Pitts" this or that with this:
- "Pitts. A woefully underrated comic, capable of fine dramatic acting as well."
- That's fun Era related color
- Adding color - a fun anecdote, a reason why, an additional piece of information - is welcome (again, IMHO) as the idea of the forum is to share these type of connects and stories, especially when Era related; but even when not, as this is a community where just sharing is part of the enjoyment
- Don't answer your own "this or that -" as that makes no sense
Please, anyone, correct any of the above. The game seemed to be getting derailed and I posted this to try to keep it moving forward in a fun way for all, but I am no expert or rule maker - correct / change / edit / add to any of the above.
- The point is to have fun - try to think of neat, interesting, quirky or relevant "this or thats -" not just something you're wondering about like if you should buy a fleece or wool lined coat
Best, Fading Fast
And in the spirit, now that Vitanola has posted those helpful pictures, I'm going with "Condensite" as my answer as the few "Celluloid" I've ever seen used were a bit clunky to work and the recording was scratchy (or whatever the celluloid equivalent is) and hard to hear.
"Two for the Seesaw" ('62) or "Three on a Match" ('32)?
