I've already shown you some teasers of this hat in the "a couple of hats" thread. However I cannot deny that my pride makes me believe that this hat deserves its own thread. I hope you don't mind.

Four, almost five years... this is how long you've been bugging me to PLEASE make a hat for you. Since you're lurking around here, dad, you'll know that patience is a virtue in this hobby, more than in any other, but your upcomming 65th. birthday and the trip to Las Vegas this May made me finally start on the hat you wanted. Alas, due to all the knowledge you gained from our conversations and your continueous reading on the forums, you know of things that means more work for me, so no wonder it took a little longer LOL! Due to this background, I think it's only fair that the first time you see it, is on a forum as well. Since you never post, I'll do as always and ask the members to share their honest opinion - good and bad as always...

Well here it is - I only need to sew in the liner and the little tie bow on the sweatband yet:

I've sewn in the liner and the tie bow in the meanwhile, done a little tweaking to the bow and taken a few better pictures:

I have to agree with the others, the color combo is great. Nice work with the hand sewn binding. I love the Diagonal Ribbon treatment, and that crease is Sweet. Why do you call it "Eckart" though? [huh]

All in all, outstanding job. You're Pop will be thrilled. Please post a picture of him wearing it proudly.

I love the ribbon work -- very creative. The crease reminds me of a deer track (hoof print) -- so, I love the "deer track" crease, as well! Cool.

I will say that it appears as if the side dent on the left side of the hat extends much farther back than on the right side. Hey, just keeping it real.

Marc, After looking at countless hats on the web I have to say that I am not easily impressed. Like the others I have looked at all sorts of hats custom and otherwise including yours. This hat IS impressive....
