Thinking about custom jacket...

Does Lamglitz do custom? I love their quality and have tried on many of their jackets but Im not wild about their style. Simplicity is not their trademark.

Of course they do! You can go as simple as it is possible, no pockets, paddings, zippers, etc. The Japanese have had some wild ideas, like the jackets with just one pocket or no pockets at all. But yeah, they'll do your jacket as simple as it comes. For example:

You can get a Colombia even more simplified, without belt loops and kidney panel (I think that'd be Crescent with Colombia collar) and with a fur collar like this.

Just came across this pic. The thread is interesting and relevant because my many visits to LL last year left me feeling something was "off" and despite the amazing attention to detail i wasnt moved bybthe jackets i tried on. Now i realize it was because the leather is "flat" in color and sometimes texture but this butterscotch jacket is butter!

That Schott in the OP is insane. Shame the fur is synthetic. They really ought to remake that thing... Anyway, Belstaff made this really cool jacket called Belstaff Hook, that you might like. There aren't many photos of it online though but you get the idea. It's basically a sheepskin Perfecto but it looks really cool. That's one Belstaff I'd love to own.

This is one of the nicest and most functional designs I've seen for this type of jacket. If I didn't live in coconut-land I'd head straight to JL and see what they could do.

Interestingly enough, if you go straight to Aero they are against removable fur collars and won't do it, only fixed.
They only do removable collars for Thurston Bros.

Do Aero make the removable collars Thurston sell, or do Thurston add them as mods themselves? Aero briefly did removable mouton collars as a direct option towards the end of the Lauder era, but when Ken came back in 2011/2012 he put the kabosh on them because he wasn't happy with how they worked in practice - flt they were far too prone to ride up and such. I think, from the look of it, Thurston's answer to that has been to add more studs than was traditional on the likes of a Schott with the removabled cover back when. Now a (fixed) mouton collar is an available option, at a small upcharge, across the Aero range. TBH, I'd be torn on the removable collar thing were it an Aero option.... The only real answer, of course, is to buy one with a fixed mouton collar and another without, but then you have to decide which you're going to wear on any given day..... ;)

My wife and I sell vintage so i bought the eBay jacket in the OP to verify what I like/dont like about the cut/fit/styling etc then I will likely sell it at the shop (should be able to break even or make a little bit in the hot Portland vintage market)

If it fits me and I love it well that might be another story. I will report. Thank you all for the suggestions so far!

Actually now that i think about it Denny might have told me Thurston did them themselves, but i am not 100% sure, it was a while back.

The only reason we considered making the collar removable was because we were worried the mutton would age much faster than the leather and we wanted to be able to change it easily.
Denny told us that changing the collar on a fixed one was a really straight forward job, and that even if we wanted a new collar after a few years it really wasn't that big a deal.

Jacket arrived today. What a let down. Did Schott do vinyl jackets in the 60s? This is the lowest quality garment Ive seen with their name on it. The styling is awesome but the leather (IF) is really cheap and flat looking and it fits me like crap.

I will sell it but it does help confirm a couple of design details for me!
