Temperature is in Fahrenheit, no need to convert. Just like language is English, no need to translate. Once we get the Prime Meridian appropriate moved to New York, all will be as God intended.

Have I offended everyone sufficiently? Was that enough American arrogance for one day?

⇧ all meant in fun.

To be honest, as a kid of the '70s, who was taught the metric system in school and told that "by the time you're an adult, we'll be using the metric system," I'm still amazed to this day that it didn't happen.

I truly don't care which system we use, but I do wish we'd stop blending them on things like soda bottles and cookie packages - the real important stuff.

Hey! I can’t help it that y’all like to be different then the rest of the world[emoji12]
Oh if only. We get a forced fed diet of metrification on TV and yet no one seems to have grasped the actual perception.
In a recent wildlife show about marine life, a young cameraman, probably early 20's, was in a shark proof cage, filming the predatory great white shark off the coast of South Africa. The commentator said something about a two and a half metre shark attacking the cage, the cameraman, when interviewed, said: "You don't hang around when you've got an eight foot shark bearing down on you. Not a metric shark then?
When I buy coffee at a specialist coffee shop, it's roasted, ground and bagged. I always ask for two pounds in four half pound bags. I get one kilo in four quarter kilo bags. One young lady told me that I should get used to metric, it's the way of the world. On paying I complimented her and her slim figure and asked, adding if it's not too rude, what her weight was. Eight-two she said. That means eight stone two pounds. We still use the ancient weight of a stone, it's exactly 14 pounds. Eight two eh, I said, doing a lightening calculation, not fifty one and a half kilo then? Touche, she said, as I took my purchase and left the shop.
Fact is, if you watch any sort of reality program made in an English speaking country, even Canada with it's French influence, the presenter talks of dimensions and weight in metric, but Joe Public still talk of feet and inches & pounds and ounces. Long may it be so, this homogenising process is not the English way, and you, kind lady, know full well that hat sizes come in two definitions, metric and correct.

I think this is one area in which metrics are definitely an advantage--measure the circumference of your head in centimeters, and the number you get is your hat size. 60 cm = size 60. Simple. But for your "correct" sizes you have to measure your head, convert the results from fractions to decimals, divide that by Pi, then convert that number back from decimals to fractions. Who the hell thought that was a good idea? o_O

Try converting PSI, pounds per square inch, into metric.

Remember us starting to learn the metric system in elementary school and then suddenly stopping for whatever reason. Wish I knew it.

I do have a setting in an app that will switch to from Imperial (correct) to Metric for temperatures. Sooo, there's that. o_O
