That definitely beats my mornings. I enjoy what I do, but look forward to retirement sooner than later.
You cannot beat free time.
:D

Semi-retired!
I'm at that point that my boss says that I can come
whenever I choose because she likes my work at the
station.

And now I love Monday mornings, waking
up and seeing folks trudging to work while
I lay in bed reading a book, watching TCM or typing on
my iPhone to you & enjoying the forum.

AmateisGal, I've always wished that the North Platte depot could have been saved.
What a wonderful story. Is there a display of photos or memorabilia from that time somewhere?

I wish the North Platte Canteen could have been saved. What a treasure it would have been. Thousands of troops from all across America passed through there.

You can visit the Lincoln County Museum to see stuff. They have some things online: http://www.lincolncountymuseum.org/the-north-platte-canteen1

There's also a great book on it: https://www.amazon.com/Once-Upon-Town-Miracle-Canteen/dp/006008197X

Thank you. I've read that book a few times. It just astounds me what those folks did every day for almost 5 years. They sacrificed from their own limited supplies to make sure every train was taken care of.

A hardcover copy in "very good" condition is on its way from Amazon for $5.06 + free shipping - can't wait, thanks for the recommendation.

Cute, but I'm still waiting for the picture of Polo napping in your Tretorns.

I'm trying!
He's too quick to catch him off-guard
doing that.
In the backyard he can sense anything
coming down the alley long before
they reach my backyard.

In the bedroom it's the same thing.
The thing is... for him, it can be the
mailman, gardner working on the yard,
a squirrel or a butterfly by the window.
All are treated equally and hold his
interest.
He hates loud people and is very picky
about showing affection.
I'm one of the lucky chosen ones,
The tiny scratches of affection on
me are a testimony to that! :(

Lately he's gotten into the habit of drinking water from the sink.
The other day I was not in the "catering to his royal majesty" moods.

I said, "Polo... here's a bowl of fresh water.... ok!
He saw me put fresh water in the bowl
and I placed it on the side of the sink.
He looked at me then at the bowl and
then back to me.
"That's it... take it or leave it!"
I told him.

Polo looked at the bowl and slowly went
to the bowl and began drinking while I shaved.

Next morning, he's waiting by the sink.
The bowl had water but he would not touch it.
He looked at the faucet and then at the
water bowl and then at me.

I knew what he was telling me.

So I put fresh water for his royal highness to drink.

Geeze... I'm going to miss him when
his time comes.
I've had one other cat is why those
thoughts come to me.

I'm happy knowing that he's having a grand time with me.
Polo found me lost on the tennis courts
and gave me a home. ;)
