Why do cowboys wear two spurs? If one side of the horse goes, so does the other.

The last surviving human might know at least the end of it.
But some profess to know the answers with dead certainty.
Why do cats "meow" to humans and not
to each other?.
When cats meeooow it ususally means they want something & they have learned that by meowing to a human, they stand a good chance of getting what they want.

I have seen Polo hiss & growl with other
cats over territoral rights at home but have never heard him "meow" to other
cats like he does to me.
Also, Polo will only answer me when I talk to him and prefers my company even
though I usually am not the one
that feeds him.

If they only wore one spur, they'd ride in circles.
He's a very cool little guy, Polo!
Largely it... Kittens meow to their mothers when they want attention, but cats row out of the behaviour when no longer dependent on their mother. They do, however, realise that humans respond to meowing in the same way, and so they keep it up for them. There are nineteen known meow sounds, according to the research, though I suspect to some degree each cat or family of cats will vary in accordance to context. The late Marlene Marlowe was a dairy fiend, and she definitely had a very specific meow that indicated she wanted milk. Her sister, Greta, who is still with us, has a very distinct meow when she wants a treat, or into the bedroom when I've closed the door, or attention more generally....

I've seen and/or heard cats meow toward each other. One is for expressing displeasure, usually over territorial disputes, and the other is for the opposite reason while doin' the nasty.
Polo is a creature of habits and follows a routine.
I don’t need an alarm clock.
He will wake me up at the same time every morning.
First he will lay on my chest...which was cute when he was young and not as heavy.
Second, if I don’t open my eyes, he will then proceed to my ear real close and start
purring.
If I still don’t show signs of waking up...he proceeds with digging his claws into my chest.
That usually wakes me up.
Sorta reminds me of some of the gals I have known in my life!

Many so-called experts say cats have evolved over the years into learning how to communicate with humans. Speaking from personal experience, I'm not only inclined to agree but on occasion have had actual conversations with our cats. The trick is that we humans have to learn to interpret and understand their communications; you've clearly learned how to do that. Why do cats "meow" to humans and not to each other?...
Can anyone imagine the trouble some of us would be in...if our Dogs or Cats could really speak? LOL!
