Well, I previously posted this 2 1/2" tie, but here it is in a larger photo. It is a Wembley, feels like polyester, and the label indicates that it should be worn with a blue suit. The color is a bit off; it is a dark red background with silver motifs.

I'd definitely wear that one and would gladly trade it for a bunch of my 3.5"ers, which I recently stored in an airtight bag. Would look good with a correct era suit as well as a modern one. I like thinner ties because they fit my body type better than wider ones. I prefer 3", but recently ordered a couple of 2.5" ones and they look great. And they are not "officially back", they have been for a couple of years.

Well, yes, I had seen some Italian designer thin ties quite a while ago, but it took some time for the "trend" to reach North America...

I'll have to look. Black back then was for service staff and, I guess, for what you want it for.

Bump^^. Okay, here's a late-'50s thin tie that I found today at a thrift store in Hollywood ($2). It has a nifty finned-automobile and (what I think is) steering wheel design. From Kory Ties of (where else?) California; feels like silk blend.
