THE INTRODUCTION

"The Wonder Years, set in the late 1960s to the early 1970s, tackled the social issues and historic events of that time through the eyes of main character Kevin Arnold. Kevin also deals with typical teenage social issues, including those prompted by his main love interest, Winnie Cooper, as well as typical family troubles. The story is narrated by an older, wiser Kevin (voiced by Daniel Stern), describing what is happening and what he had learned from his experiences."

At the end of the last episode, the matured Kevin Arnold states, "Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers, the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place, a town, a house like a lot of other houses, a yard like a lot of other yards, on a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back, with wonder."

This was one show that after the last time seeing it, I just couldn't let it go.

A great series, though I think it ran out of steam a bit in its last couple of seasons. Definitely a classic.

And I say this as someone who was precisely Kevin Arnold's age in the original timeframe in which the series took place: it *mostly* got things absolutely right!

What a great show that was! I enjoyed it not only for the time in which it was set, but also because I was the age of Kevin, Winnie and Paul when the show aired. I have fond memories of watching it with my mom.

Does seem completely wrong, doesn't it?

I watched it with my parents a lot while I was growing up. I was a little older than Fred Savage's character, but I related to him. I also got the feeling that the show's producers went out of their way to get the look & feel of the environment as close as they could.

I was just a toddler in the timeframe that Wonder Years took place. I had just graduated high school when the show started. But the neighborhood on the show was blue-collar California suburbia much like the white ethnic Oakland suburb in which I lived; many father's wearing blue Dickies/Ben Davis work clothes, station wagons, ski/fishing boats in the driveway, camping trailers. Maybe I can find a picture of a 5 year old Lincsong in maroon pants or striped bell bottoms. lol Hopefully the pictures of the Angels Flights have been burned.

Ah yes, Eight is Enough. Supposedly took place in Sacramento, CA. Didn't resemble Sacramento at all.

In the show, Kevin is the same age as I am. I can relate exactly to the times and the events and experiences depicted in the series. I know it is somewhat romanticized, but the enjoyment of the program is the same point of view as the narrator: you are looking back after 20 years.

I think this was a fun, clean, family show. More like it are needed. Too much sex and violence on T.V. today, IMHO.

Actor Fred Savage was born in 1976, the year I graduated from High School. The series began in 1988, when Fred was 12. The time frame of the show began in 1968. It all works out perfectly.
