A while back, I bought a tan Open Road from the Wingnut. He said it needed a little work, and that the ribbon was stained. He had reshaped it from a western block to this:

Nice hat, I thought. So I had Art brush it out and replace the ribbon for me. Then I played with the bash for a while until I was happy with the look, and satisfied that I had hidden the old bashlines as best as I could. Here, as promised, are some shots of the final product.

On my screen, the after pictures are more accurate to the color. Thank you Art, and Mr. Wingnut. Hope you all enjoy my new old hat.

Art is really a magician

Yes he has done the same to me,...pulled a rabbit out of a hat. NO. He pulled a hat out of a RABBIT! Or Beaver! Art works magic in that he can take a stale, open road thin ribbon hat, clean it, repair, install new sweat and liner, and then put on trim ribbon (VINTAGE) which make the hat look like NEW!

And, you have HIGH quality felt from vintage era, with modern cleanliness and style. Thank God for guys out there like Art. OH, and I won't ask, but I bet the price was very, very reasonable.

That hat is beautiful. And will last another "lifetime".:cheers1:

Funny as I just started a thread on my first open road today and wanted to know about reshapping it.

Those pics are just what I was looking for, as the open road is a little too brokeback for me.

I steamed mine a bit yesterday, and I think it's going to be steamed a lot more this weekend.

I'll try to do before and after pics.

Great looking hat Not-B!

NB, it looks GREAT! That's an amazing difference from what it looked like when I picked it up. I really wish I'd taken some photos before I rebashed it. I'm flattered that neither Art or you felt that my hand bash needed much changing, and of course, it looks even better now.

I find myself wishing it had been my size. ;)
