The 'Veep' Jacket

Anyone ever see one of these before? Definitely very late 1940s very early 1950s. Marlboro had a square logo by the mid 50s (I have a couple of their shirts). Yeah some might call it a 'Shirt-Jac', but I think you would be wrong. It has an elastic waistband, slash pockets and just leans on the other side of the shirt/jacket divide. This one is priced at a pretty 235 Euros, too rich for my blood....

Anyway, what do ya think?

That is rad, I love garments like these. I have a few light weight zip-up ricky's that fall in this category, and I have seen some cool "Palmland" and "Cubaverra" long sleeve guayabera shirt jackets too.

One thing I never understood was why those 1950s extra-short, short-sleeved sports shirts were called 'shirt-jacs' since they really weren't jackets at all.

Can't believe my luck!

Ah, but the story doesn't end there... after a year of waiting, one showed up yesterday for the princely sum of US $48. I almost felt guilty buying it from the seller for so cheap! ALMOST. They took rubbish photos though, so I will have to take new ones when it arrives! Mine has a mini houndstooth pattern instead of the box check though. Same brand, same Veep.
