Steal away GHT; your wardrobe also ought to be marked 'Kelvinator'.
Well if I'm Mr Kool, (I used the K rather than a C, as Kelvin,) then you are definitely Mr Smooth. Such compliments!
Did you know that Kelvin as a measure of temperature takes its name from William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin?

I didn't know that. Thank you, it's always good to learn something new every day. You don't hear the Kelvin scale mentioned much in daily life, unless, perhaps, you work in the sciences.

Second suit looks like something out of a period movie star's wardrobe, cool find! The jacket and trousers would look awesome as separates, but as a full suit the color and pattern are too reminiscent of the 70's in my opinion.

Hi Chaps, been a while but here's a nice suit i picked up last week, lovely worsted wool fabric in a dark blue with some fine pin strips, very subtle indeed. I'm assuming its 30s, has all the hallmarks you would expect, but the union tag is one i have't
seen before, can anyone ID it?.
Unfortunately the inner label has been defaced, does anyone recognise it?

The United Garment Workers of America used that same label more or less from the 1930s until they ceased to exist in 1994. So it's not going to be particularly helpful for dating purposes. That being said though, I'd guess your suit is from the early 30's.

I'm afraid I have no idea about the label. Matt's guess is as good as any. Honestly, there were so many factories churning out suits, trying to identify that label is probably a lost cause. In any case, it's an absolutely gorgeous suit, in a stunning fabric - the kind of woven stripe no one makes any more. Just a pity that its vest got lost somewhere along the way. In any case, wear in good health!
