Rabbit,
I love the look you give "your suites" I am too healthy to pull off the look, unless I am a bad guy lazy gangster "helper" that has added 35 pounds, you fill the suites good
I've been in search of vintage 30s suits for about 15 years – in stores and online – and have yet to find a decent one, especially due to my small stature (which everyone erroneously assumes would be helpful). Curious where in God's name everyone finds a piece like any of these, let alone a dozen of them.
where do you guys find these things??? I know there's literally no hope of finding one in a size 46r with 40X31 pants but I haven't even seen ONE garment with anything older than a 1949-1961 union tag in any thrift shop I've ever been to.
This thread has been instrumental in my quest to alter modern suits to mimic the styles of '30s ones, but where on earth do you guys find these vintage ones?? I'm sure you've seen me ask something similar, but the results are lacking when i search for one even on ebay.uk, where most of these seem to hail from. I have yet to see one in person, let alone one in my size. it's as if everyone who breathed back in the 1930s-1940s was a size 38 and smaller. Were there no 46 and up gents back in the day? Surely there must have been.
Really? The great majority of my fellow lounger's suits seem to be that size! Surprising! Then again, seeing as how I've never found one, I wouldn't /really/ know. Heck, the oldest vintage thing with lapels I even own is a 50s overcoat (which isn't even A real overcoat on me. Too-tight to wear with a suit under, so I pair it with a high neck sweater)
