where is the best place to purchase these? directly from sunbody?
The dealer list on their website is not up-to-date so call before travelling to a dealer. It's probably easier to just order from their website.

SunBody Dealer List

Hey guys!

I'm really enjoying you conversation about SunBody!

We're expecting to get in the 2-1/2" fine palm open crown hat bodies in about January 26.

We update the dealer list regularly to include stores that have received hats from us the the past year. That said, we have scores of styles and nobody carries them all. And some only get a few hats. So it's a good idea to call a store before visiting.

Also, if you give us a call at SunBody Hats, 1-800-310-7093, we can tell you which dealer is the best bet for what you're looking for.

HOW TO SHAPE A SUNBODY

Here it is open crowned.

<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3342/002ts6.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a>

<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3347/003ct1.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a>

This hat has a 5 3\4 inch open crown, a 2 3\4 inch bround brim that has been cut down from 3 1\2 inches.
Next all I have to do it wet the hat down to start the shaping process

to be continued........

I really like the shape of this one and the higher crown is just like I like it!
Thanks to Jim and the gang at SunBody!!!! :eusa_clap

Thanks. Yup, 3 inch brim. I could do with about an inch taller crown like yours though.
Tracy, you need to get this one and have the brim cut down a little, the crown height is great on this!

I have been looking at these hats mighty hard for a summer time lid. RBH I really like yours, is the bound edge khaki color?
Jimmy, is there anyway to get a slightly larger grosgrain ribbon with these? (ducks as thin ribbon contingency throws assorted rotten vegetableslol ) I would like one very similar to RBH's but maybe with an inch wide ribbon with a bow, and a 3 inch brim (I want to put a pencil roll in mine...so I need the extra brim).

Give Jim a holler I am sure he can fix you right up. I do know that some of the hats have a wider ribbon.

My Sunbody arrived today. I'll put up some pictures tomorrow after I have a chance to pinch the front a little tighter, but this is going to make a great hat for keeping the sun off my face and neck when I'm sitting on the beach or at the bar in the Dominican Republic next week.

Here's my new Sunbody. I pinched the front a bit tighter than it was when it came, and I thought about turning the back brim up a bit but then decided to leave it down all around...makes for a better sun hat, I think.

I bought the fine palm teardrop with the horsehair band but asked Jimmy to change the band to one without tassels.

That looks to be a fine hat for sitting in the sun, Bob.

I'm looking forward to those photos from the Dominican Republic and the tan you'll be sportin' at the Mid-south Gathering in February.

wow

so far, I'm very impressed by these Sunbody hats! They're inexpensive (which is good for a college student just scraping by ;) ), they can take a beating (unlike Panama hats), they can be re-bashed (also unlike Panama hats), and they're still good looking (did I mention that you can change up the ribbon, get the edge bound, or have the brim trimmed for only a few xtra bucks as well?? and it's a fraction of what a panama costs??)!! I was thinking about getting a Milan straw hat for this summer, but I think a Sunbody is looking like a million times better of an option!

sorry... I needed to vent after reading through this thread! lol
