While looking through some old threads I found the photos no longer showed up, so I thought I would try and redo some for the use of the Lounge.

Old Stratoliner newspaper ads...

Looks great on you. There is something about the crinkle
of a fresh dent on a vintage Stetson...

Mouse gray, eh? I wouldn't have
come up with that one. Wouldn't even use the word-
those around me either start hunting or screaming when
the word is used, depending on the number of legs they
use to get around...

Wow! Very neat! That 1950s ad is especially interesting to us stingy-brim fans. I wonder what the brim width is on it?
In any case, thank you for posting these ads, RBH!

From 1940, I believe this is the earliest I have seen the hat, pin and box mentioned.

In Stetson's application for a trade mark for the Stratoliner hat, they claim they first used it April 19 1940.

What is the latest Strat ad you've come across? The one I sold a few months ago was probably a 60s hat and had this price tag.

Lefty... this is by no means the bottom line .. but the earliest I found a
$ 11.95 price on a Stetson was 1959.
This was not the earliest month I found but the neatest ad.

Great stuff, Rusty! :eusa_clap

Lots of narrow brim styles there, although I note that both narrow and regular brim widths were available. So, by 1959 the entry level price on a Stetson was $11.95. Great info. Also interesting to see that the Whippet was still being offered at this time.

Thanks for taking the time to research this!

Cheers,
The Director :D

On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
Okay boys...

Another possibility on the Stratoliner pin front. Just picked this up on eBay:

Cost me about $56 bucks, but I'm going to have Joe W. make me some clones. As you can see, this puppy is flying in the right direction and up!

Let me know who's in at $25.00 per pin in .925 silver (probably with a push-pin back).
