For your Strat folks with larger heads... A 7 5/8 Premier with stars. Looks like a nice one. I'm guessing most of you are already prowling :)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-Stets...500192?hash=item2aa813dbe0:g:eJgAAOSwfo9a6yxX

PS I'm not selling; I assume it's ok to post?

The consensus is that you should not post live auctions unless you are the seller. I did this once last year and some were out for blood. I snuck away with my tail between my legs and stayed away for weeks. No way for you to know, but Lounge etiquette is to not increase competition for those who have done their own leg work and found these opportunities.

Beware of the old timers with pitchforks. :)

Shoot. Thanks for the kind correction, I thought it was the other way around. Well, this hat sale at least is properly titled and labeled, I don't think it had much of a chance of flying under the radar.

My apologies for the error.

No need to apologize. I totally get wanting to share a potential deal with fellow Lounge members. And being a 7 5/8 I already had it on my watch list.

Good day, fellas. Here's my initiation to join this here society. Early 40's Stratoliner with 5'' crown and 2 3/8'' brim. At first I wasn't really a fan of the Stratoliner/OR style, but it has really grown on me. Just need to get a good bash into it.

Well, vintage Stratoliners have been a challenge for me and finding one has eluded me. That ended when the mail came yesterday.

Pardon the water splotches. I had just finished ironing and steaming it to open crown and was in a hurry to get to work, so I popped the pics anyway.

A Stetson from Deadwood is way cool. The eBay seller mailed it from Keystone, SD (Mt. Rushmore).

Check out the liner

Normally, based on the liner tip, I'd put this hat late 50s/early 60s. However, the sweat and felt quality, and a sewn in liner, make me want to push this back to mid 50s. No re-order tag, and the size tag, which was tucked in behind the sweat, is the keyhole tag with just "1/4" on it.

Pleased to have finally gotten one of these in my collection. The color is a dark gray, maybe steel gray, or perhaps even a vintage version of Caribou.

Head shot.

Congrats on this addition, Jim. Whatever the colour: looks good! The liner is something different too.

Outstanding, Jim! I've never seen a liner like that on a Stetson. Too cool; mid 50s or earlier for sure.

Wonderfull find!! My humble guess on the lack of tags and the highly unusual liner is it was cleaned and the body of the liner replaced and sewn to the old tip. Many cleaners offering full hat cleaning and restoration did sew the liners back in. Really quite the cool liner now.......
Simply wonderful hat! Now.....wish I could find one that would fit me.....

Thank you, gentlemen. There is a great deal of blue in the color, though not as pronounced, nor as violet, as my two modern Caribous.

Interesting supposition. I hadn't considered that. Do you think the cleaner would have removed the re-order tag? Of course, finding one without a tag isn't that unusual.

Thanks, Mark.

I think I'll call it my Indy 500 liner.
