Good looking hat! I'm waiting on a mink.

The visual effect on your ribbon is called moire - here's the wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moiré_pattern

Commonly occurs when photographing textiles that have small, repeated patterns, sheen, etc. Most times a slight movement of the subject closer or further away from the lens or a change of focal point will remedy. It's a complex phenomenon that, trust me, can drive you crazy when photographing clothing professionally.

I received my Mink Premiere Strat today. I am impressed. As others have noted, the felt on this one is dense, has a nice hand, and shapes easily. There are still some issues with the ribbon tacking as previously mentioned, but it's not atrocious. If Hatco can get that issue under control and also stitch the liners in place, they will have a product that comes close to rivaling Stetsons from 60 years ago. Here it is out of the box and after bit of hand creasing.

Very nice! I just got one in Cornhill color last week and it is a fantastic hat! Trying to hold off on ordering one in Caribou but I'm feeling kind of weak! My wife asked me why I have so many hats (and I have nothing compared to you guys!) and I tell her "because they make them." I just like hats. Now, I just need to search for creative ways to store my hats now that my collection is growing!

When my wife asks me about hats, I point to her pocketbooks and shoes. That usually does the trick.
Storing them is another matter entirely.
