Does anyone have a clue where to purchase a Sage Excellent Quality Stratoliner?

not sure they are available anymore in Excellent ... I know they are in Premier which is also pretty nice

give the outlet a shot ... or call around to places like JJ or Delmonico ... they may still be able to get them

JJ may actually have one in stock ... but they go for about $300 retail\

I just got my premier Stratoliner in cornhill this afternoon from Delmonico. The color is really different from most others that I have, and I love it.

Today it arrived. I have been using wool felt hat for quite sometime so decided to upgrade to fur felt.

(Apologies in advance if I am posting it in wrong section. Please feel free to move it to right place).

The hat seems light, way too light I shall write. It feels like the strong winds can blow the hat away and Helsinki is notorious for bad weather and strong winds. Is this feeling normal with this hat?

Second thing: Am I wearing it in right way? The bend of brim or anything else I should take into account?

Some hats have thinner felt, what weight is it? Is it too large so a loose fit? It looks good.

I'd say it is about 100 grams more or less. Size is 58 cm.

It's a lightweight felt I assume. I have heard the US Stetsons are hit and miss on quality. No idea about EU ones. Does it have a leather sweatband?

It does look good. And yeah, the modern stetson dress hats I've owned or tried on do feel thin sometimes. If it fits comfortably and isn't too loose then you'll have to decide about the wind, but it'll be a snug fitting hat rather than a heavier weight hat that stays on better. I had a Saxon that felt more winter weight than some others I tried at the time.

For my money the strat style is worth the risk of a gust of wind getting under the brim.

Out Of all of my Stetson hats, my strats get the most compliments. Old and yound alike. Doesn't matter where either. Restaurant, grocery store, work etc. And it is by far the most comfortable on my head. Love my Stratoliners!! So far I have yet to wear it without at least one compliment every time.

I absolutely love the Strat...........While I do have several modern production Strats (regular, special and premier), I have never found one from the 40's through 60's era that would fit me.......Great Hat......I wear my Strats more than any other and while most of my hats draw comment.....the Strats seem to ALWAYS draw comment!!

PS Here are two of mine (that I wore yesterday and today) the one on the bottom is a strange one in "Cordova" that does not have the usual quality designation anywhere on it and in fact, besides the awesome rich color feels like my full beaver hats and is super soft and I tend to wear it when dressed up for meetings.......the second hat is my everyday "beater", in standard "Royal" quality in "Walnut". Both were the usual Stetson "C Crown" or "Basin Crown" which I modified...........

$189 is a decent price for this hat. I now own two and they are great. I've never handled the Excellet grade, but I'm more than satisfied with the Premier.
