The Strangler Fig

My sister spent two days in the upstate New York wine country, and brought me back an old book she found. It's called The Strangler Fig, by John Stephen Strange. (I think she grabbed it because of my love for Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.
So, I thought I'd post a few pics of it:

Is this some sort of book club? I'm curious if anyone here has heard of it. It was published in NY in 1930.
