Oh my goodness, that is a nice looking hat!
Another Brown Royal Deluxe

The felt on this hat is everything I'd want from a dress felt.
Crisp, but not stiff, thin and dense. Nice rich brown.
Somehow I still haven't warmed to this hat. I think the
problem is the way the crown is formed. I should reform
it to make it appear a bit taller. Note that the brim binding
is the reverse of JtL's (and presumably HPG's).

Excellent condition.

Just got this back from VS Custom Hats yesterday. I sent it to get a deep cleaning and have the sweatband replaced. I was bummed that I had to replace the sweatband as it was the only indicator that the hat is a Stetsonian. So I wrote Stetsonian and the month / year on the underside of the replacement sweatband. I will keep the original sweatband with the hat. The brim binding still has quite a bit of staining but I like it. It may have to be replaced at some point - but not right now. I figure it's good to go for many more years.

A Modern "TEMPLE STETSONIAN" and "TEMPLE" a side by side comparison.

Well, as we know, ever since it's introduction in 1922, the Stetsonian has been offered in the best selling most popular style of the time, but with an upgrade in felt quality (until it was dropped in the 60's). So when the Whippet became the best selling Stetson fedora (which in Royal sold for $7.50 to $10 in the 40's) the Stetsonian was sold with the same features but with an upgrade to Royal Deluxe (for $10 to $12.50).

So, It was interesting (and logical) that Stetson would more recently label a Temple as a Stetsonian (since it's introduction, the longest production best selling MODERN fedora). I know many here do not like them, but they ARE still producing and SELLING many of these hats......
So I offer THIS Carabou "Temple Stetsonian" (which I recently acquired with original tags intact, very litte if any wear, appears unworn actually) which has some interesting features DIFFERENT from my one and only modern Temple also in Carabou. Note the wonderful simple silver lining that in some light (and these photo's) looks more tan/gold but is in fact silver.

Now, how does the Temple Stetsonian differ from my new Temple, well for one thing the "Carabou" color of the Stetsonian version is much lighter as seen in the comparison photo's. Also....it has a slightly taller crown, and wider brim!! The brim on the Stetsonian version is still dimensional BUT measures exactly 2 11/16 (a little more than 2 5/8) in front and exactly 2 1/2 on the sides, so more brim than the standard Temple. AND the brim on the Stetsonian version has much less flange than the standard as is very evident (the flange is very much like that of the Open Road).
And FINALLY, while the brim and especially the crowns on the Temple tend to be somewhat stiff to very stiff, this Stetsonian version is soft, and the crown is very receptable to my creasing efforts.....with the wider brim, taller crown looks a lot different from my standard Temple.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed my excursion with my "Temple Stetsonian"!!
M;)
PS: There IS another one of these TS hats shown earlier in this thread (in brown) with the same simple liner tip, but the rest of the liner is an awesome purple/red!
And just because...... I am posing a picture of one of my Carabou "Stetsonian Stetsonian";) of very recent manufacture.;):)

Well, I got my own vintage Stetsonian, but it’s a few sizes too small. What a hat! Wide Whippet-esque brim binding but the binding is much wider on the top of the brim and narrower on the bottom. 5 1/2” open crown and 2 3/4” brim…and sadly a size 7 1/8:

The sweatband is nice and supple and the hat is pretty clean. The felt is fawn and more brown than the photos show. The felt is substantial and should make a good cool weather hat for someone. Off to eBay and…Japan?
