I think i can deal with short on the front around real waist maybe with exposed belt buckle it is fine to me as it serve a function to sit and bend forward comfortably without the jacket bunching up, but short on the back is just ugly and there is no functional reason to it unless you carry a pair of nunchucks or pistol with ivory handguard on the back of your pants:eek:. But I agree with Ton these black and white pictures are overated as everything looks rad and legit in black and white but in colors they would be a lot less cool.

The pockets also tend to be too high up when walking around. Worse than short jackets - by far - is the epidemic of trouser cuffs that are rolled too high for boots. That puts all short jacket concerns into irrelevance.

It’s definitely tricky to get very short jackets to work outside of a total vintage look (a la @willyto for example).

I don’t think it is impossible though as the picture of MichaelA clearly shows.

If you go for a very short jacket I believe you must put some serious thought into all the rest of your outfit or the risk is to end up looking like you are wearing the top part of a funny costume.

women can pull off both of that looks flawlessly, I also don't think it ever work for men tho, I see in denim forum people like to cuff a bit high whenever they wear boots, personally I always find them look weird and make their leg look shorter unless they are lucky ones who have long legs, just by wearing the pants over the boots it is already evident just by how the jeans crease over it that the wearer wears boots without actually showing the obvious bootshaft.

I don't recall the full details, but this one is modern photo of rocker-revivalists, taken within the las decade. The only real 'tell' in the photo, though, is the presence of several American-style Perfecto-types (always less common on the UK rocker scene than the like of the Lewis Lightning - which I *think* the guy on the bike is wearing, or the Lewis Bronx (seems to be one of those here on back row, first left). There's also an absence of what became the archetypal Rocker jacket, straight zip with a shirt collar. What they have nailed is the level of decoration. Some rockers back in 60-64 really went all out, but most, per all available photos, did not decorate their jackets to quite the same degree as has become a standard among the revivalists since the 90s.

I've always wondered if there was a practical purposes to it (e.g. avoiding oilspills, or keeping the wide denim leg up out of the way of moving parts) or if it was just fashion, but it's certainly common in old photos of American bikers from the 40s and 50s to see them with their jean rolled up one turn further. Whatever the origin, it did become a fashion thing to roll the jeans up to just above the ankle buckle on an engineer boot (early 60s Brit rockers tended to wear narrower-legged jeans, and tuck them into their boots). It's part of one of the popular looks hey emulated well in The Wild One. Not obvious when they're on the bikes, but there are several shots of Brando walking around town where you can see it.

I just read your PM and I'll get back to you!

I'm a huge fan of the short jacket and high waisted trousers. I just love the look and it's a look that I love rocking around.

For original jackets worn today just check Wilhelm's feed: https://www.instagram.com/wilhelmzeppelin/

These european jackets were short! No problem with high waisted trousers but not wearable with a low or regular rise.

For reference I'm 179cm aprox 5' 11" . A german example of mine that is 22" but because it's worn blousy fits more like a 20-21" back:

Ridiculous short jackets you can find in today's "fashion trends" with the short suit jackets which shows the half ass.
It reminds me of a clown who stole his jacket from his little younger brother - What's the point of making a fool of yourself if you go like this:

Thanks god we're talking about short leatherjackets ...

To me, the short suit jacket looks better (or less odd) than a short leather jacket. Short, tight leather jackets often accentuate wide hips and backside- which is probably why the fit might work on some female body types.

Michael looks good in almost anything, he's lucky that way. He's kind of unique actually and I would say "don't do what he does" since only he can do it.

High-waist pants are ESSENTIAL, obviously, as the other half of the short jacket look. But many people, myself included, don't look good in high-waist pants so short jackets are therefore impossible. It's always struck me as odd since I'm mostly legs and I would have thought that short jackets would be okay on me, but experience shows that's a false notion.

Is that the CXL or Jerky? The sleeves are looking fantastic.

I never wear this zipped up, but here are front and back pics with jeans at 'I couldn't care' height. Fits 'As it's supposed to' or 'That man's a sex offence waiting to happen to himself!'?
