The Resistol Roundup

San Antonios are awesome! Resistol's version of the OR/Stratoliner. I think they were standard uniform for Dallas detectives, the pics from the Kennedy assassination where detectives are wearing such hats - those are almost certainly San Antonios. The 3X Beaver San Antonio is really an awesome, comfortable hat, and that style goes with anything anywhere.
Any idea what the fac# is or means? It was on the tag in the box with the style and color?

+1 on the San Antonio. What do you mean by the fac#? Where is it located? Is there a reorder tag under the sweat?

I've only had mine a short time, but it's a great hat. One of my best.

We can speculate that it was a specific pattern - more than just a block number, but a specific style of hat - and probably included the ribbon, sanding/finish on the felt, block, brim flange and brim edge treatment, etc. For some hat manufacturers there would be more than one number on that type of tag; the combination of numbers helping to identify basically the same information. Sometimes it was just the block number.

looks fantastic

how did you work out the wind trolley issue ?... great job

I might lift it off and spin it around so that the button is more toward the back of the bow ... but thats just me

great hat

Picked up this project today. No lining and "Resistol" is not on the sweat (it is on the re-order tag under the sweat band though along with the Garland address). Is the script font of the "Self-Conforming" a clue to a date?

me personally ... aside from hitting the sweat with a little Chamberlains I would leave it just as it is ... I love it

From the tag, I want to say mid 50s. It's the same as on my San Antonio. However, my sweat has the block lettering for self conforming. Could be just the difference in models though.

I was thinking of hitting it with a little Lysol first.

Sunlight and cool breezes are great disinfectant and odor removers, too. OR if it's musty, put it in a hat box with a dish of baking soda for a few days. Not sure if Lysol would affect the color, but for some reason, that seems to me to be a last (or at least second) resort.

Back in post #1053 on 2/25/16 I complained that I had not been able to land a really nice Resistol fedora - yet - maybe this score will turn out to be a really nice one. The brim appears to be wide enough - hoping for at least 2.5"

Second on the sunlight and fresh air.
