Nice Hat Rick, The oil cloth liner is from the late forties to early fifties there was a posing from Dinnerman but i cant find it right now. the kitten finish is really nice to the touch. i have a 3 string with the same liner also, shown on this thread a while back. I'm waiting for a mid ribbon to come in the mail i will have to post some pictures when it comes in.

Thanks for the info, Dallashat. I have searched the thread a bit but so far nothing from Dinerman regarding Resistol oil cloth liners. Holler if you find something. It's inteersting how hard it seems to be to date Resistols compared to Stetsons.

Amazing hat, Rick. I keep an eye out for OR-style Resistols, I think they're underrated.

I agree. I've always preferred Stetsons but the quality of the felt and sweatband on these older Resistols are clearly superior to any Stetson I've handled, save for my western Stetson 7x Clear Beaver.

Resistol Western 3x

Another hat I bought last year is this 3X Western Resistol - any guess on the age?

I changed out the Campaign style bow on my Stagecoach for one that's more simple. It was just too much bow for the hat. The 8 ply mid-ribbon of itself is enough, and in this case, simple is better....

Thin ribbons work best for the Campaign style bows...

Yes, I agree that it is an improvement. The campaign bow, while technically excellent, drew too much attention away from that awesome crown. Great job and a great new look for a cool hat.

That's the kitten finish advantage. I've got two similar era Resistol Kitten Finish fedoras, and the felt is awesome. I'm impressed every time I take one down to wear. Great score. I've had a San Antonio, but it wasn't a Kitten. Killer hat, one I'd be really happy to own. Not likely in a 7 7/8 though. Frank

Harv, RJR, Perry, Rick, moehawk, thanks guys. I appreciate everyone's comments and feedback. I agee with you guys. I think the simpler bow worked out best for the hat. A mid-ribbon for a campaign style bow is just too much "over-kill", so to speak.
