Hopefully next year we can get our ground crew set up over for the show. It's kinda close to the same time as our bombing mission though.

Great Air Museum, I was fortunate to have worked as a volunteer years ago. My friends and I worked the Airshow directing traffic, selling Cokes and Programs. I remember Chino before it was the Museum as it is now. My Father flew me and my brother into Chino back in the late 60s. It was a real treat to see real Warbirds up close. They had a few Navy Fighters sitting on the ramp rotting away. I remember clearly a bird flying out of a Gun port on the wing. It scared the crap out of my Bro and I. Thankfully they saved those Planes.

The CHG and it's federation of reenactors are regulars at this event. Usually we put on a mock battle. Our reenactors have the training and experience to put these on. The problem has been there are Living History people who lack the experience of shooting blank adapted weapons, and since the area is so small, you can't being firing weapons in close proximity which they don't have the experience in doing. Next year there is talk about the CHG managing the reenactor camps and the mock battle.

If you go through those Airshow photographs, you find these mixed in there.
The armored vehicles were supplied by 2nd Armored and the 12thSS.

We don't have to worry about blanks, we are a USAAF ground crew unit. Unless you count Ford wrenches maybe going off.

If the Planes Of Fame is ever going to have 3 or more P-38 Lightnings flying together in a formation at any of their future air shows I hope someone will let me know and I'll definitely be on the next plane from here in Washington State to California to see them fly. Mike

Well behind the front lines!
The only thing about these air show spectator events that bugs me is the backgrounds. Yes, it’s neat to see the GI’s and Germans and all their vehicles doing their thing, but how seriously can you take it when there’s a Chevron sign, kid inflatable toys and modern hangars in the background? lol

Well the Chevron sign would fit in (kind of ) with us but I don't think the bouncy thing would.

All public reenactments are lame, it just a simple fact of life. But the "general" and I mean "general" public loves them. Case in point there wasn't one at the last Airshow this past May, and the Public was very, very disappointed.
