The Philadelphia Experiment

In 1943 the US Navy attempts an experiment to make a whole ship – the USS Eldridge – invisible. But the experiment goes out of control and the ship is contaminated with a massive dose of radiation. Two sailors, David Herdeg and Jim Parker, jump overboard as the crew start being affected and fall through a warp in space to emerge in what they find to be a bewildering 1984. On the run from the authorities, they find the experiment has also opened a hole in time that is dragging everything into it and causing vast climatic disarray.

Very good time travel movie that needs to be seen again.

I recall seeing this movie as a kid and I was enthralled by
the whole concept of the experiment and my favorite part
was of course when they went back in time to the 1940s.

I haven't seen this movie since the 1980s. Would be a great
movie to see again. Thanks for the reminder.

I'll recommend skipping the cheesy, craptacular sequel though. (Much as I like the F-117, even it wasn't enough to keep the movie from bombing like the Dambusters...)

If it was that bad, I'm sure I could have gone longer than this not having known about it. lol

Oops, sorry 'bout that. Best bet is to deal with it like Highlander 2 or the Jaws sequels: it "never happened", it "doesn't count". Brad Johnson's an underrated actor IMO (he all but nailed Jake Grafton in Flight of the Intruder), but soaring with eagles is nigh-impossible when all ya got to work with is turkeys, as was the case there. Wish they could add a clip to the end of one of my heroes with his memory-messer-upper and "This movie never existed. You will have a nice day..."lol

I think some members might be confusing The Final Countdown with The Philadelphia Experiment. Countdown had the Nimitz. P.E. has 1940s sailors arriving in 1980s. F.C. had 1980s sailors going back to 1940s.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

No, sir, I didn't mean you, Diamondback. I meant MrNewportJazz.
I haven't seen PE2. I might keep it that way.
What don't you like about Highlander 2? Aside from it not working as a sequel, doesn't work logically, oh yeah, never mind.lol

Sincerely,
The Wolf
