Gus Miller, proprietor of Batsakes Hat Shop, works on a custom hat. Miller started working for uncle Pete Batsakes at the shop 56 years ago, when he was 17. Batsakes, a Cincinnati institution frequented by many celebrities, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

Thanks for posting this!

As it happens I'm heading over to Cincinnati tomorrow. I'll try to get over to check out his shop while I'm there!

Cheers,
Tom

Well, dang...

My trip to Cinci was cancelled due to weather. Guess I'll have to make it a special trip another time with the hat store as the reason for going!

Cheers,
Tom

Came to this thread a bit late, but wanted to chime in wholeheartedly that Batsakes and Gus Miller are a class act. I posted this a while back, and it's worth repeating here:

Was posting info on another thread about a Borso I bought at Batsakes Hat Shop in Cincinnati while traveling on business a few years back, and thought I'd give this wonderful establishment its own thread...What a great experience -- a venerable bricks and mortar establishment that has been around for going on 100 years. Gus Miller, the proprietor, is a pleasure to talk to and do business with. I could have stayed there all day talking hats. There is a sense of tradition about the place, and a commitment to the craft of hatmaking that is all too rare these days.

If any of you ever have the chance, don't miss the opportunity to pay a visit. You won't regret it.

Here are a couple of articles:

Might get there today

My previously planned trip to Cinci (taking son-in-law to VA hospital for appt) has been rescheduled for today. I'm planning on stopping in if at all possible.

Cheers,
Tom
