It's never a good idea to soak anything with linings and interfacings. Shrinkage might occur, and it might turn out all lumpy and may never be the same. Spring for a dry cleaning.

That's a sweet suit!

Is the suit lined at all? I would think that it would defeat the purpose of the fabric...and a lot suits from that era were unlined/skeleton lined to begin with, even the heavy stuff.

Good find? I was a little hesitant because of the stain and all but it seems like Wild Root is having a good old time with that oxiclean and I don't want to have to miss out!

I have a nice 5 metre piece of Irish linen in an ivory colour I have been dying to have made into this type of suit thanks a million mate!

New Palm Beach sportcoat

Just picked up this Palm Beach number:

It's a Wool, Silk, and Linen with non-poly lining. I've been wanting something lightweight and breathable for these Missouri summers.

I probably should slow down the purchases for a while, before my wife takes the paypal away from me. ;)

I like the pattern. I need a jacket like that for the warm months, but alas, funds are low...

Prom Palm Beach DJ, Boater, and Carnation

Hello everybody,
Here was my get-up for prom
It was a boiling 85 degrees and humid on Saturday night here in Taipei, and the Palm Beach fabric and straw boater did nothing to help me feel any cooler, but I was better off in those than in a homburg and full black tuxedo.

The Palm Beach jacket and pants (from a full tuxedo) were eBay finds.
The black grosgrain bowtie (similar to the grosgrain stripe on the lapels/pants of the tux) from Paul Stuart
Plain front/no pocket white shirt from Sam's Tailor with Portofino cuffs (which I just spotted on a shirt at Brooks Bros. last week!)
Brooks Bros. patent leather shoes
Red carnation

Just as I was leaving the house:

Bored in the taxi on the way to afterparty:

What do you think?

Palm Beach Tux

I can't wait to see what my new one will look like and thanks for showing me what the flower buttonhole looks like with one in.

Thanks, Feraud, D-man, and Orgetorix. I plan to change out the ribbon from this one anyway- it's kind of busted and I prefer the plain black ribbon to the repp stripes.
Should I have pushed the carnation in further? Like all the way up to the petals?
