The Palm Beach suit thread

My post 1944 Palm Beack bowtie says:

"50% Rayon - 32% Mohair - 12% Cotton - 6% Nylon"
Its a green label with by Beau Brummell under the usual script.

Pretty specific. Likely easily reproduced today---just add money. :p

I have something from a 1916 catalog around here somewhere from my previous research. I'll see if I can find it. [huh]

A healthy dose of $$s will usually remedy anything. :)

Rumor has it a certain NY designer has a bolt of Palm Beach cloth. The temptation to inquire about having a suit made is tempting..

1916 Palm Beach fabric mention. Unfortunately my catalog has none of the fabric samples mentioned. :eusa_doh:

I know the cream palm beach is a classic, but I prefer colored palm beach!
Even though the picture is in black & white, this suit is a gray coat w/ royal blue pinstripes & matching blue pants. There's also a great striped blue, grey & white PB tie
I'll post a color pic when I have a chance.

Took a $5 gamble on this one. We'll see.

I'll post pics tomorrow in another thread. It turned out to be linen, not palm beach. Pleated pockets and belted back. Wonderful jacket.

Who, pray tell, is this designer? I bet there's a good amount of vintage PB cloth laying around the old fabric houses, especially in the south.

Same Palm Beach?

I have a appearingly modern(last 25 years) Palm Beach sportcoat. The tag says Made in South Africa and doesn't have a union tag(that I can find). Could it be the same Palm Beach of old or someone stealing the name.
It is made of Worsted Wool.
Just curious

I saw a mid 50's Palm Beach suit on eBay, but I didn't have the funding for it, and now for whatever reason, the seller never re-listed the item which I know did not sell, I can only guess that it sold on some other website. Oh well.
